Greetings Bear Nation! It is my great honor to serve the students, staff and community as your new superintendent of La Vernia Independent School District. My transition into office has been enjoyable and I appreciate the warm welcome. We are establishing excitement and pride in LVISD. One of my major goals during this transition has been to spend time evaluating organizational effectiveness and efficiency to ensure supportive systems for campus teaching and learning. I am excited to announce there will be some immediate positive changes happening within our district. I understand that change is not always the most comfortable situation for everyone, however, please know that every decision is made with your children as the motivating and driving factor. We are here to serve our community, our school district, but most of all, our students. I would like to introduce Josh Gutierrez as our director of safety and security. Gutierrez, LVISD’s former hearing and truancy officer, has been a licensed police officer for 17 years, a criminal justice instructor, and served as an assistant principal. The protection of your children and our schools are the top priority. We are taking additional measures to ensure we are prepared to provide increased safety and security. In addition, LVISD is uniting the athletic programs under one athletic director, Chris Taber. Effective immediately, Coach Taber will provide guidance and direction for all male and female sports at the junior high and high school level. Richard Hinojosa is committed to continue to lead our highly-touted cross country program and serve in an administrative capacity to support Coach Taber. Please do not hesitate to reach out to Coach Taber or myself with any questions or concerns that you may have. Lastly, I would like to encourage our community to show your Bear Pride. As you travel through your daily routine, visit new places and find yourself among friends and family, snap a photo with your “bear claw with pride.” Share these photos with LVISD on social media. YOU are what makes our district great and we want to share this with our community. Thank you for your continued support and confidence. We will strive to not only meet, but also exceed your expectations. Created for you,   Trent Lovette, Ed.D. Superintendent, La Vernia ISD TLovette First Letter
