Chief Technology Officer
James Garza earned a dual degree in Accounting and Management Information Systems from Texas Tech University. Along with his dual degrees, he also holds various technology certifications in Microsoft Servers, Microsoft SQL Servers, and Microsoft Financial Software.
Mr. Garza began his career as a applications programmer for Plains Cotton Cooperative Association before moving on to a career with Computer Transition Services, Inc. where he worked in software support, network support, desktop support, programming, and project management. In 2013, Mr. Garza left the private sector to join his wife in the education field, working with Corpus Christi ISD. While at CCISD, Mr. Garza worked as a database administrator before moving up to a Level 3 Programmer Analyst where he oversaw the Custom Development team, Applications Security Team, and Reporting Team.
Mr. Garza serves as the La Vernia ISD Chief Technology Officer. Along with the responsibility of day to day Technology Operations, Mr. Garza also oversees the LVISD technology team as well as the work of the Public Relations Coordinator.
Mr. Garza and his wife chose to call La Vernia their home based on the La Vernia community and the La Vernia ISD school system.
Mr. Garza has a wife, Dana, who is the District Testing and Accountability Coordinator for Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City ISD. He has 2 sons who attend La Vernia ISD and are active in the La Vernia youth sports community. When Mr. Garza is not working with technology, he enjoys volunteering for his son’s athletic teams and spending time with his family.
