December 4-8, is Inclusive Schools Week. Inclusive Schools Week is an annual event held during the first full week in December. It provides the opportunity for educators, students and parents to discuss how to successfully educate all children. Inclusive Schools Week is a time to highlight and celebrate the progress schools have made in providing a quality education to an increasingly diverse student population including students who are marginalized due to disability, socio-economic status, cultural heritage, language preference and other factors. This year La Vernia Intermediate will have 6 different “Disability Awareness” stations set up around the campus. Throughout the week, students may visit the different stations and complete numerous activities to experience what it is like to live with a disability.
