Chris Taber

Director of Athletics

Coach Taber joined the LVISD team in February of 2017 as the Boys Athletic Director/Head Football Coach. Chris Taber began his career in 2001 at Jacksonville High School and had stops in Nacogdoches, New Braunfels, Tyler Chapel Hill and again in Jacksonville as an Athletic Director/Head Football Coach.

Coach Taber is in his 17th year of coaching. He has been a part of a State Championship team in 2011 and a State Runner-up team in 2010. He has also been a part of several playoff appearances. Coach Taber has been associated with traditionally strong programs throughout his career.

He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology with a minor in English from Stephen F. Austin State University.

As the Athletic Director of LVISD Coach Taber will continue to grow the athletic department into a program that our community can be Proud of. Coach Taber is working with his staff and administration into making La Vernia one of the elite programs in the state of Texas.

Coach Taber is originally from Benbrook, TX and played college baseball at Ranger Junior college and Southwest Texas State. He is married to Kelly Taber and has three children attending LVISD schools Abigail (15), Ty (11) and Bella (6). Coach Taber’s philosophy is to give all students the tools necessary to be successful parents, spouses and employees.
